‘Demo Day’ at Downtown Branch

On Wednesday, April 24, First State Bank held a “Demo Day” at its Downtown branch in Russellville, in which the drive-through building behind the branch was demolished to begin construction of the branch’s new drive-through featuring interactive teller machines, or ITMs.

Christina Krueger, who served First State customers as a teller in the Downtown drive-through for nearly 15 years and is now part of the new ITM teller team, was given the honor of first swing with a sledgehammer. In all, the demolition process took about 30 minutes for the building to come down.

Others present included Charlie Blanchard, chairman and CEO; Ragena Moore, senior vice president and COO; Toni Laws, executive vice president; Andrea Nicholson, CFO; Brooke Taylor, vice president; Steve George, assistant vice president; and Ashley Weaver, ITM manager.

Prior to the Demo Day, the ATM at the Downtown branch (501 W. Main St.) was removed. The new ITM building is under construction along with the resurfacing the parking lot. The new ITM machines (that also serve as an ATM 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) should be installed in 6-8 weeks.

The Downtown branch lobby is still open, and an ITM is located inside the lobby for customers to use. We invite all customers to come by and try out our new ITM.

Also this week, the process of installing an ITM began at the bank’s University branch (2002 N. Arkansas Ave.). It is expected to be up and running Friday, April 26, and will be First State’s first permanent ITM for customers. After both the University and Downtown ITMs are operational, customers will be able to use them from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Soon, ITMs will be installed at First State’s West (3005 W. Main St., Russellville), Ola (325 W. Pennington, Ola) and East (3103 E. Main St., Russellville) branches.

Unlike traditional ATMs and drive-throughs with tubes or grainy video feeds, ITMs allow for face-to-face banking with tellers at all drive-through lanes throughout your entire banking process. First State ITM tellers are located right here in the River Valley and provide the friendly service our customers are used to and have come to expect.

Also, an ITM lets you utilize more First State services, like cashing a check and making loan payments — with the convenience of not having to leave your car.
